HOW OLD ARE THE STUDENTS SERVED BY BACK ON TRACK?
Back on Track provides services to all K-12 students. However, elementary school students constitute over 50% of our students.

• WHERE DO THE STUDENTS LIVE and WHAT SCHOOLS DO THEY ATTEND?
Students come from over 50 schools and live in all parts of San Francisco. 57% of students live in the Western Addition district.

• HOW DO STUDENTS HEAR ABOUT BACK ON TRACK?
Parents' word of mouth, schools, community referrals, and the internet.

• HOW DO WE KNOW STUDENTS MAKE PROGRESS?
BOT has developed a Five Point Evaluation Plan to record student's progress.

  1. Standardized Testing. The SAT 9 (Stanford Achievement Test) is an evaluation tool that determines a student's reading, mathematics, language, and spelling abilities. The SAT 9 is administered annually by schools and test scores are collected by BOT at the beginning of each school year as part of the registration process. Photocopies are placed in each student's confidential file and are available to tutors for viewing.
  2. Report Cards. At the conclusion of each academic quarter, students are required to submit a copy of their report card to be held in their confidential file. This tool is used to evaluate student performance and academic strengths and weaknesses.
  3. SkillsTutor. This web-based academic program provides students with state-aligned curriculum in Reading, Writing, Language, Math, and Science. Diagnostic pre- and post-tests keep track of progress, as shown by detailed reports.
  4. Portfolio Review. Portfolios are intended to be public showcases of student work. Each portfolio includes projects and work samples selected by students as excellent examples of their work. Projects are also displayed during BOT events such as the Three Holiday Party and Year-End Party. The Site Coordinator reviews work placed in the portfolios to identify student strengths.
  5. Tutor Cyclical Evaluations. This form is due during Week Four of each cycle. Tutors complete a brief questionnaire about their tutoring experiences with their student during the preceding cycle. This evaluation is intended to provide an opportunity for tutors to communicate personalized information about his/her student. Moreover, the evaluation includes a Student Homework Assessment to track improvement.
